Student Services
   
To ensure that students enjoy a supportive environment at Berjaya University College of Hospitality (Berjaya UCH), the Department of Student Services is committed to providing student-friendly support services delivered directly or in collaboration with our associate partners.

Life in Berjaya University College of Hospitality
Once you start at Berjaya UCH, you will realise just how much our University College is part of the city, with partnerships with local business, education and sports organisations. Kuala Lumpur offers an array of cultural activities, tourist spots and recreational areas for students’ participation and enjoyment.

The University College’s network of strategic partners and corporate associates provide more opportunities for students whether in the form of discounted rates, vouchers or interesting work placement opportunities.

Berjaya UCH also offers sports and recreational outlet to students through the Recreation Centre. The centre which is located at level 11 provides an avenue for students to unwind and relax in-between or after classes. The centre offers students’ access to indoor sports activities and audio visual entertainment.

Facilities include the following:
• Pool table
• Foosball table
• Ping-Pong Table
• LCD TV with DVD Player
• Dart
• Other Games – Chess, Carom, Monopoly, Checkers, Card Games, etc.
 
Student Sports and Recreational Activities
For extra-curricular activities, Berjaya UCH has many sports and recreational activities for students to choose and participate in.

Football, Badminton, Netball, Volleyball, Tennis, Swimming, Bowling, etc.

Berjaya UCH Recreations Clubs
Berjaya UCH believes in nurturing students’ talents. Therefore, there will be many recreational clubs to be formed such as Music Club, Dance Club, Foosball Club, Dart Club, etc.

Extra-curricular activities and student leadership opportunities are made available through various clubs, societies, councils and associations within the University College.

Student Entertainment
After finishing their classes, over the weekends or during their free time, students can choose to unwind and relax at the various entertainment outlets at Berjaya Times Square at a discounted rate.
 

 

 
Students can come and try the Cosmo’s World Theme Park, the Largest Indoor Theme Park in Malaysia and is one of the main attractions at Berjaya Times Square.   Students can come and experience the IMAX Theatre movie experience! With a movie screen towering 5-storeys high, surrounded by 12,000 watts of digital surround sound!
 
 
Students can watch the latest movies at the Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC).   Students can bowl during their free time at the new bowling centre – Ampang Superbowl at Berjaya Times Square.

Student Development
Students’ Personal and Professional Development
Students’ personal and professional development needs are analysed and appropriate programmes such as talks, seminars & workshops are organized to enhance their development.

Student Leadership Bodies
Students will be given the opportunity to learn leadership skills and knowledge through the various students’ leadership bodies such as Berjaya UCH Student’s Council, Berjaya UCH Students Sports Council and Berjaya UCH International Students Association.

BERJAYA UCH Clubs and Societies
To develop students overall capabilities further, Berjaya UCH through the Department of Student Services will advise and assist students to establish students’ clubs and societies such as Hoteliers, Culinary, Tourism, Events, Retailing clubs and international societies.

Student Counselling Services
As part of our initiative to ensure students are healthy, well adjusted and able to cope with their academic and personal demands, Berjaya UCH offers various forms of counselling services and guidance. Students who are experiencing anxiety, stress or other worries are strongly encouraged to speak to our counsellors for assistance.

Individual Counselling
Counselling is offered in areas such as relationship, family issues, academic challenges, stress and anxiety, emotional issues and adjustment to campus life. Besides that, counselling also aimed to support personal growth, improve students’ problem solving and coping skills.

Group Counselling
Small group of 3-10 students meet face-to-face with one or more trained facilitators and talk about issues of concern.

Peer Counselling Programme
Students are encouraged to join the Peer Counselling Programme as volunteers. Peer counsellors will be trained and supervised by our professional counsellors. All services are free, private and confidential for Berjaya UCH students. Our counsellors will also work with students who need long-term care to find a good match with a clinician off campus.

Workshops and Talks
To enhance students’ well-being, Berjaya UCH offers relevant workshops and talks on student related issues such as stress management, managing challenges, cultural adaptation and personal development.

Academic Pastoral Care
Berjaya UCH students are provided with pastoral care in their academic progress. Assistance such as counselling for exam stress, academic counselling, monitoring student progress and workshops will be organized to ensure students gain the greatest benefits possible from their University- College education.

Study Skills Support
If you are experiencing challenges in certain areas of your studies, you can make an appointment with our Counsellor to gain useful and practical input.

Students with Disabilities (if any)
Berjaya UCH will offer support to students with disabilities to ensure they have equal opportunity to learn, participate in campus activities and successfully complete their programme of study.

Student Mentors
The Department of Student Services will identify senior Berjaya UCH students to act as mentors by offering assistance and friendship to small groups of new students.

Student Insurance  
 
It is the priorities of Berjaya UCH to insure all its students with Berjaya Sompo Insurance which covers their personal safety within the premises of the University College.

Student Career Services and Advisory

• Annual Career Fairs
Career Fairs are organised annually with participation of influential industry players and this is aimed at exposing our students to the careers available in the various industries related to the hospitality and services management.

• Campus Interview Sessions
Interview sessions are held especially for the final semester students as a way to offer them employment opportunities with relevant employers such as the hotel, tourism, food and beverage sectors as well as retailing and events companies.

• Career Presentations
Berjaya UCH will invite successful industry players to give motivational talks to our students and to share their achievements.

• Career-Related Workshops
These workshops are organised for students to further develop their academic and career development.


Student Internship
Internship opportunities are built into the learning outcomes of programmes offered at Berjaya UCH. Students will undergo a six-month internship with relevance organizations within the industry.

• Internship Arrangement
Department of Student Services will coordinate internship programmes by identifying suitable employers (local, regional and international) for students training as part of their curriculum requirements.

• Company Visits
Department of Student Services will plan and implement periodic company visitations in order to initiate new contacts and maintain continuous rapport with industry players.

• Graduation Ceremonies
Department of Student Services will organise its yearly graduation ceremonies, coordinating with the Academic Department.

Annual Career Fairs
Career Fairs are organised annually with participation from organisations in the industry. This is aimed at exposing students to careers and career opportunities available in the various industries related to the hospitality, tourism and services management.

• Career-Related Workshops
These workshops which focus on career related issues are aimed at enabling self development and understanding of workplace requirements among students.

• Unemployed Graduates Job Placement Services
Department of Student Services will provide a listing of graduate employment opportunities with a wide range of employers at its offices. Please contact the Department for further information.

Department of Student Services will provide a listing of jobs available for students seeking part-time or casual work. Please contact the Department for further information.

Student Alumni Relations
Department of Student Services serves as the link to foster continued engagement between the University College and its alumni for life-long learning, networking and collegial relations.
