Methods of Counselling

Individual counselling is a one-on-one private session between counsellor and student. It allows students to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.

Group counselling typically involves 5-8 people in a group with one counsellor as a moderator. It’s involves meeting with a group of individuals whom all face similar issues. Group counselling helps students to learn to communicate effectively, to identify or explore inner feelings, to be honest with self and others and so on.

The Student Counsellor provides career guidance to help students make informed decisions about their academic and career direction that fits with you and your unique interests, strengths, values, goals and situation.

Psychological assessments may be used to understand behaviour, personality, strengths, weaknesses and capabilities. The student counsellor is well trained to conduct the psychological assessments during counselling sessions.
